PRESS RELEASE THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL TEA FESTIVAL-THAINGUYEN 2011

Implementing dispatch No 5072/VPVP-KTN, issued on July 21, 2010 by the government office announcing the Deputy Prime Minister- Nguyen Sinh Hung’s conclusions on the organizing of Thai Nguyen international tea festival; Thai Nguyen People committee cooperated with Ministry of Information and Communication, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to hold an official press conference to announce the content of the first international tea festival –Thai Nguyen 2011.

 

I. Aims of the festival

- The festival is aimed at introducing Vietnamese tea trademarks and tea products in general and Thai Nguyen tea products in Particular to international visitors. It is also a chance to exchange experiences and techniques to process tea between domestic and international tea-related businesses, and gradually improve tea manufacturing and processing in Vietnam, affirm Vietnamese tea brand in the international market.

- The event  is also to honour  and present Vietnamese and Thai nguyen tea products to international market. The festival activities are also expected to attract domestic and international investment and  joint promotion to enhance tea manufacturing and processing in Thai Nguyen, contributing to make Thai Nguyen province become not only the key economic zone of the North of Hanoi but also the centre of North Vietnam.

II. Festival program

1.  Name

THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL TEA FESTIVAL-THAINGUYEN 2011

2.  Date and timings

From November 11, 2011 to November 15, 2011

3.  Location

The Thai Nguyen International Tea Festival will be held in Thai Nguyen city, Nui Coc Lake Tourist Site and other local tea growing and processing areas.

4.         Festival participants

- International guests: the festival is expected to welcome tea producers and experts from ten countries and regions that have used and imported Vietnamese tea products including China, India, Russia, Japan, England, the USA, Germany, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Taiwan.

- Domestic guests: the event is also expected to welcome domestic tea trading enterprises and producers from 34 provinces and traditional tea villages. 

5.  The organizing committee and coordinate organizers

- The organizing committee includes Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the General Department of Tourism; Department of Trade Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Commerce)

-  Coordinate organizers are the Government office;  Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Planning and Investment; Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Industry and Commerce; Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; Vietnam Department of Industry and commerce; Vietnam Tea Association; embassies, consulates, and diplomatic missions of other countries in the World Tea Association; other provinces’ people committee; domestic and international tea producers and enterprises; consulting organizations of the festival.

6.  Major events of the first international tea festival

a.  Opening ceremony

-  Time: 8:00 p.m, Saturday, November 12, 2011

-  Location: Nui Coc Lake Tourist Site

b. Closing ceremony

-   Time : 8 :00 p.m, Tuesday,  November 15, 2011

-   Location: 20/8 Square, Thai Nguyen city

c. International seminar themed “Vietnamese tea to integrate globally”

-  Time: 8:00 a.m November 13, 2011

-  Location: Thai Nguyen Hotel

d.  Exhibition on the country, the people and Thai Nguyen city

- Theme “Vietnam- Thai Nguyen- your destination”

- Time: from November 11, 2011 to November 15, 2011

e. The beauty contest in tea homeland themed “Miss Tea Contest”

-   Time: from November 11, 2011 to November 15, 2011 

-  Location: Thai Nguyen Provincial Cultural Centre

f.  Tea Culture Festival themed “Vietnamese tea to develop and integrate globally. Tea Culture Festival - the destination of domestic and international tea enterprises”

-  Time: from November 11, 2011 to November 15, 2011

-   Location: Museum of the Cultures of Việt Nam’s Ethnic Groups, Sông Cầu Park

g.  Art Performances

In addition to key activities there are also many other support activities in the festival including art performances, International tourism and Trade Fair – Thai Nguyen 2011, carnival, Rural Market with specialities of the region, two tourist tours for visitors and some other sport activities…

A Press Information Department will be founded to serve domestic and international press agencies and reporters during the first international tea festival in Thai Nguyen
