In 2008, Samsung Group officially received the investment license and started the construction of SEV Company in Bac Ninh province with total investment capital of 670 million US dollar. This is the first mobile phone production project of Samsung in Vietnam, creating a premise for Vietnam to become the global production base of the Group. After 10 years of operation, Samsung Group is the largest foreign investor in Vietnam with total investment capital of over USD 17.3 billion (26 times). Currently, Samsung Group in Vietnam have 8 companies and a research and development center, attracting over 170 thousand employees. In particular, SEV (Bac Ninh) and SEVT (Thai Nguyen) are the two largest mobile phone manufacturers in the Samsung Group worldwide. In 2017, the export turnover of Samsung Group reached 54 billion USD (highest ever), contributing more than 25% of total export turnover of Vietnam.
Speaking at the anniversary, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh expressed his pleasure at the growth of Samsung Group in Vietnam; Recognizing and appreciating the contribution of the Group to the economy of Vietnam. At the same time, Samsung Group is requested to actively invest in products as planned, the roadmap is expected in some local companies. Deputy Prime Minister also pointed out, the Vietnam Government will continue to accompany and actively support the Group to implement the project well.
With the achievements and contributions of Samsung Group in Vietnam, the Group was honored with the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit; Bac Ninh provincial People's Committee awarded emulation flag to the Group. On this occasion, SEV also honored 10 excellent employees and 6 excellent suppliers.
