On May 13th, at the Thai Nguyen High School of Posts and Telematics, the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union Central Committee and Prudential Vietnam, one of the leading life insurance companies in the country, granted the Tran Van On Award for 34 students who are from 13 different cities or provinces in the mountainous northern area of Vietnam.

Attended the awards ceremony were Mr. Lam Phuong Thanh, Secretary of the Vietnam Youth Union Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Students Union; Mr. Dam Huu Dac, Vice Minister of Labors, Disables and Social Welfares; Mrs. Trinh Thi Cuc, Member of the Standing Committee of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People''s Committee and some representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training.

                34 students from 13 provinces and cities receiving                    the Tran Van On Award


Being an initiative of the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union Central Committee, the Tran Van On Award is to honour outstanding students at vocational schools throughout the country. Awardees must have good study records and actively participate in youth union movements. The awards are annually granted on the occasion of President Ho Chi Minh''s birthday (May 19th) in order to appreciate and honour leaders of youth unions, fostering the emulation movements on studying and social activities between students vocational high schools all over the country. Each awardee is granted a certificate of merit by the Youth Union Central Committee and an award which is worthy of VND 1.000.000.

Addressing at the ceremony, Mr. Lam Phuong Thanh highly appreciated the achievements of youth and student unions'' staff in the past and expressed his hope on their more future endeavours and initiatives.
