Attending the launching ceremony at the Government bridge were the Politburo members, Secretary of the Party Central Committee; the Deputy Prime Ministers; leaders of some central ministries, departments, branches and several businesses and donors.
At Thai Nguyen bridge point, Mr. Trinh Viet Hung, Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Mr. Pham Hoang Son, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, co-chaired the online launching ceremony.
As the new school year has begun in Vietnam and most students are required to attend online classes to avoid getting infected of COVID-19, the program "Waves and computers for children" aims to ensure WiFi coverage of 283 points which are under social distancing and 1,910 places without Internet connection. It also aims to donate 1 million computers for pupils and students from poor and near-poor households nationwide.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, until September 12, the country has 26 out of 63 provinces and cities teaching and learning online. The total number of online students is estimated at 7.35 million. The total number of students who do not have computers needing support is estimated at 1.5 million.
Thai Nguyen has about 25,000 students who are not eligible for online learning and television learning, needing support.
At the launching ceremony, agencies, organizations and businesses nationwide supported more than 1 million computers, worth over VND 2,500 billion. They invested VND 3,000 billion to respond to the program "Waves and computers for children". Thai Nguyen has mobilized organizations and individuals to donate 20,000 devices to support students in learning.
