Implementing the 4th Central Resolution (the tenth term) on “Viet Nam’s Sea Strategy until 2020”, on the evening of 12th October, in the Provincial Culture and Information Centre, there was the Receiving and Transferring Ceremony of the Spratly Islands’ sovereignty stones which were given to the Party Committee, the authority and people of Thai Nguyen Province by the Viet Nam Navy Service High Command.

 

 

Participating in the Transferring Ceremony, there were Senior Lieutenant General Pham Thanh Ngan - Former Member of the Politburo, Former Chairman of the General Politics Department of the Viet Nam People’s Army; Lieutenant General Tran Thanh Huyen - Vice Admiral, Party Committee Secretary, Political Commissar of the Navy Service; and the leadership of the Navy Service High Command. As for Thai Nguyen Province, there were Comrade Nguyen Van Kim - Deputy Standing Committee Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Comrade Duong Ngoc Long, Deputy Committee Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Comrade Vu Hong Bac, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; and the former leadership of Bac Thai as well as Thai Nguyen Provinces; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Permanent Provincial People’s Council, and the Provincial People’s Committee; the leadership representatives of departments, organizations and the local people in Thai Nguyen Province.

 

In this solemn ceremony, on behalf of the Navy Service High Command, Lieutenant General Tran Thanh Huyen handed over the Party Committee, the authority and people of Thai Nguyen Province twenty one sovereignty coral stones which symbolized twenty one islands on the Spratly Islands. The sovereignty stones are  an invaluable evidence which confirms the truth about Viet Nam’s sovereignty over the sea and island, expresses the will, courage and determination of the Vietnamese People’s Navy’s cadres and soldiers to defend the sovereignty over the sea and island.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Duong Ngoc Long emphasized the meaning and importance of the East Sea to Viet Nam’s politics, economy, and culture. He said that although Thai Nguyen Province was not contiguous to the sea, Thai Nguyen Province and and its people always cared about and turned to the native sea and island.

The Receiving and Transferring Ceremony of the Spratly Islands’ sovereignty stones is deeply significant to remind the community, especially the young generation of patriotism, national pride, sense of responsibility for the territory preservation and protection. This activity also confirms the sea and island sovereignty of Viet Nam as the truth, expresses the will, courage and determination for management, defense of the sea and island sovereignty of Vietnamese People’s Navy’s cadres, soldiers in general and the Spratly Islands’ soldiers, people in particular. Concurrently, it expresses the love and heart of Thai Nguyen people to the beloved Spratly Islands with the wish for sharing the responsibility for preserving and protecting Viet Nam’s sea and island sovereignty.

 

Twenty one sovereignty stones of the Spratly Islands will be located on the solemn places by Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee and people to serve visiting.

 

* The signing ceremony of the sea and island propaganda coordinating program between the Navy Service and Thai Nguyen Province had taken place at the Provincial People’s Committee’s hall before.

 

The leaders of Thai Nguyen Province and the Viet Nam Navy Service signed the propaganda coordination program of the sea and islands of Viet Nam.

 

The major signed contents include strengthening propaganda verbally and through public media; promoting the public relations and the exchanging activities of culture, performance, and sport in the province; paying visits to the navy units on the Spratly Islands.

 

Over the last time, Thai Nguyen Province had paid a special attention to the sea and island propaganda. Its reporting staff arranged hundreds of verbal propaganda times about the sea and island situation. The public news agencies in the province also carried out many reports about the effort of the Spratly Islands’ soldiers and people to overcome difficulties, to rise in producing and fighting, and to preserve our country’s sacred sea. The other departments, sectors, organizations also held many activities turning to the country’s sea and islands sovereignty, such as the response to the campaign of “Border and island love” of the youth, striking up a friendship with the soldiers on Len Dao island, holding the competition for learning about Viet Nam’s sea and islands, performance exchange of “For the beloved Spratly Islands”, taking part in the competition for studying the 50th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh road-on-sea opening day.

 

At the signing ceremony, Lieutenant General Tran Thanh Huyen presented the location, importance of the East Sea; the sea and island situation, especially the Spratly Islands recently; and the sea and island sovereignty security of Viet Nam... Vietnam Navy Service also awarded a Medal for the sea and island sovereignty protection to fifteen comrades of Thai Nguyen Province who had greatly contributed to the sea and island protection of the country.

 

After the signing ceremony, Thai Nguyen Province will build the suitable plan and program for the purpose of propagandizing our country’s sea and island sovereignty.
