International Representatives express their opinions in Workshop

This is the subject of the International Workshop on tea in Thai Nguyen that People Committee who coordinates with the Vietnam Tea Association held in Thai Nguyen University on November 13rd, 2011.

Workshop is one of seven main activities at the First International Tea Festival in Thai Nguyen province, Viet Nam 2011.

 

Come to The Workshop, there are Mr. Manuja Peiris- Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of World Tea Committee;  Ms. Barbara Dufrenne- General Secretary of the European Tea Committee; Representatives of Guangdong Tea Association (China) and China Association of Enterprises in Viet Nam; Taiwan tea Association and Malaysia. These are also coming of Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; Ministry of Science and Technology, the Department, the Institute together with the Tea Processing Producers from 17 provinces and cities in the country. As to the Province, Mr. Dang Viet Thuan- Member of Provincial Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee and leaders of departments, sectors, branches, leaders of districts, cities and towns.

 

Nowaday the country has nearly 132,000 hectares of tea trees which give the output of 165 thousand tons of dried tea.The exporting reached 133.150 million USD per year (Productivity growth of 37.428% compared to 2005); it created jobs for production of 400,000 households in 35 nationwide provinces. In particular, Thai Nguyen province has nearly 18,000 hectares of tea trees. Average yield capacity of fresh fine tea leaves reached about 100 piculs per hectare; it means nearly 200,000 tons of output. Thai Nguyen is also implementing the regional planning of safe tea production in all the province; establishes the safe tea-producing areas of organic manure; restricts of inorganic fertilizer, chemicals, pesticides using…However, tea processing in Thai Nguyen mainly is implimented by traditional and manual methods. Tea consumption is mainly in the domestic market. While the tea exporting percentage is low and not high turnover.The market mainly export to China, Britain, Pakistan, Russia, and Taiwan...

 

At the Workshop, participants gathered to discuss the major issues surrounding the development of Thai Nguyen tea such as evaluatation of Thai Nguyen tea level in particular and Vietnam tea in general in the world tea market; direction for Thai Nguyen tea development; production methods, processing and production organization of Thai Nguyen tea; also about forms, scale, product structure; application of science, technology; builds, manages and develops brand of Thai Nguyen tea; analyzes the curent requirements of foreign markets for Thai tea products…

 

At the Workshop, the domestic and foreign enterprises have signed the contracts for cooperation, investment, production and tea consumption…
